For that moment it all clicks

Together we get life-changing technology into the hands of people living with sight loss and build confidence that changes everything.

I need help with tech
Two women sit close together holding an iPad - one hand each on the tablet. They are smiling and beaming, like old friends catching up.

We connect people with tech

Tech works best when confidence comes first. We get the right technology into the hands of people living with sight loss, and help you make the most of it.

That means understanding what you need, matching you with the right device and the right support, and following up until you feel truly in control.

Meet Ian

“You feel a hand on your back sometimes. People making sure you’re okay. That’s football.” There aren't many things more dear to Ian than his beloved Bristol Rovers. Thanks to our support, Ian's still in the stands cheering his team on with his footie family.

Read about Ian and the 5,229 others we supported in 2025.

Our impact
Ian sits smiling at a garden table wearing his favourite Bristol Rovers top. He's clutching the pocket radio Visably gave him as his wife Pat smiles at him lovingly.
Doreen, who got a free Echo Dot from BWBF at the age of 95, smiles as she gestures to the device on her shelf.

How it all began

Our charity was born in the 1920s, when a group of mates built a makeshift braille-dial radio—or ‘wireless’—for their friend, blinded war veteran Sir Ernest Towse.

That simple act of love brought so much joy to Ernest that he created British Wireless for the Blind Fund, the charity now called Visably.
